Melik Saraçoğlu was born on January 21, 1984 in Istanbul. After graduating from Galatasaray High School, he continued his education in cinema and literature at Lumière University in Lyon, France, and at the University of Vienna in Vienna. Saraçoğlu, who made a name for himself with his cinema criticism in Empire magazine and Cinema Defteri, which he founded, also published his articles in different publications such as Kitap-lık, Monokl, Centuria 48% and altkitap.

Melik Saraçoğlu, who made his feature film debut There with Hakkı Kurtuluş in 2009, has been deemed worthy of many awards both in Turkey and in the international arena since then. He made his mark in both short and feature films, with projects in which he took on different roles such as directing, screenwriting, producing and acting. He published his first novel Hospital Notebook in 2015 by Everest Publications.

While his short films include works such as 2015's Good News, Moving to the Land of My Country, Erdi Sinemam 100 Years of Honor! and 2013's Adana 2012, his feature films include Journey to Bergmanya (2011) and The Light of My Eyes (2013). With these projects, he won many awards in various festivals and competitions and became one of the notable names of Turkish cinema.

The Light of My Eye, brought to the cinema by Melik Saraçoğlu, received the Best Film, Best Screenplay, Best Editing and SİYAD Best Film awards at the 20th Adana Golden Boll Film Festival; It was deemed worthy of a number of prestigious awards, such as the Grand Jury Prize at the 36th International Moscow Film Festival, the Asian Film Critics Association Award and the Federation of Film Clubs of Russia Award. He also won the Promising New Director Award at the 21st Ankara International Film Festival with his movie There.
