Mahmut Muammer Gözalan was born in Istanbul in 1903, spent most of his life in this city, and is one of the well-known faces of Turkish cinema and theater. After working at the City Theaters in the first years of his artistic career, he transitioned to the world of cinema in 1932. In this new field, he made significant contributions to Turkish cinema by appearing before the audience in approximately 220 films in total, especially as supporting characters such as doctors or judges.
The artist, who was married to Hülya Gözalan, who was also an artist, passed away in Istanbul in 1985. His grave is in Zincirlikuyu Cemetery.
