Nalan Kuruçim

Born in Ankara on 31 October 1971, Nalan Kuruçim spent her youth in Yenimahalle. After finishing high school she went on to study at the Faculty of Economics at Gazi University, where she took her first steps in theatre. After completing university she moved to Istanbul and enrolled in the theatre department of the Müjdat Gezen Art Centre. Following four years of intensive training, she graduated in 1997.

Continuing her stage career with Tiyatro Oyunevi, Kuruçim worked on projects by various directors. She performed in plays directed by Mahir Günşiray such as Döne Döne (2004) and Leonce ile Lena (Leonce and Lena, 2008), and was both a performer in and one of the directors of the play Son Bir Kez.

Continuing to work with experienced names, she also took part in projects with directors such as Tayfun Pirselimoğlu, Kutluğ Ataman and Bahman Ghobadi. In 2020 she won the Best Supporting Actress Award at the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival for the film Hayaletler (Ghosts). She has also served on the juries of the 23rd Architecture and City Films Festival and the 7th International Boğaziçi Film Festival.

In a television career spanning a wide range, she has appeared in series such as Leyla ile Mecnun, Büyük Yalan and Sen Anlat Karadeniz. Known for successfully portraying many different characters in film and television, she still lives in Istanbul and continues her artistic career.

She was born in Ankara on 31 October 1971, completed primary and high school in Yenimahalle, and then entered the Faculty of Economics at Gazi University. She began doing theatre in a university club. After graduating from the economics faculty she came to Istanbul and joined the theatre department of the Müjdat Gezen Art Centre.

After four years of training she graduated in 1997. She has appeared in numerous plays, television series and feature films. She worked with Tiyatro Oyunevi. She performed in Döne Döne (2004), directed by Mahir Günşiray. She played Valerio in Leonce ile Lena (2008), also directed by Mahir Günşiray. In Son Bir Kez, another Tiyatro Oyunevi production, she directed one of the segments and acted in another.

She has worked with a range of directors including Tayfun Pirselimoğlu, Azra Deniz Okyay, Kutluğ Ataman, Belmin Söylemez, Bahman Ghobadi, Burak Çevik and Atıl İnaç. She won the Best Supporting Actress Award at the 2020 Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival. She served as a jury member at the 23rd Architecture and City Films Festival and the 7th International Boğaziçi Film Festival.
