Born in Izmir, artist Mükerrem Nedret Bilgütay said hello to life on September 5, 1930. Nedret Güvenç, who started his artistic life by studying voice and piano at Ankara State Conservatory, discovered his passion for theater over time and focused on this field.
Güvenç, who stepped into theater in Izmir in 1948, had to move to Istanbul after the Izmir City Theaters closed in 1950. The artist, who participated in the Istanbul City Theater here, then performed as a guest actor at the Ankara State Theatre. Nedret Güvenç, who played the leading role in many theater plays, crowned his success with numerous awards he won in this field.
The artist, who started his directorial career with "The Biggest Gamble" in 1974, continued his career with "Tiyatro Istanbul" after retiring from Istanbul City Theaters in 1995. The artist passed away in his sleep in Istanbul on July 31, 2021. His body was buried at Kilyos Cemetery on August 2, 2021.

He started his directorial career in 1974 with the play The Great Gamble. He retired from Istanbul City Theaters in 1995 and joined Theater Istanbul, founded by Gencay Gürün. In addition to his theater work, he has done many films, radio plays, dubbing and television works. He was awarded the title of State Artist by the Ministry of Culture in 1998.
