Okday Korunan, who was born in Istanbul on January 5, 1965, stepped into the theater stage during his high school years. After graduating from Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory in 1988, he completed his master's degree in theater at the Social Sciences Institute of the same university and completed this program in 1992.
He received his doctorate degree from Marmara University Social Sciences Institute Cinema-TV Department in 1996 with his work titled "Journey - Creating meaning by visualizing the connotations of images in cinematographic language - Ney's story" with Prof. He obtained it under the consultancy of Sabri รzaydฤฑn. His master's thesis was written by Assoc. He had prepared it on "Acting Training" under the guidance of Mรผลfik Kenter.
Korunan, who started his acting career at Diyarbakฤฑr State Theater in 1988, took part in both stage and cinema-series projects over the years. In 2008, he won the 33rd ฤฐsmet Kรผntay Theater Special Award for his role in the play "Bir ลehnaz Oyun"; In 2011, he received the 36th ฤฐsmet Kรผntay Best Actor Award for his performance in the play "Pir Sultan Abdal" by Istanbul State Theatre.
Thanks to his success in the play "Three Sisters", he was chosen as the Actor of the Year in a Supporting Role at the 2014 New Theater Magazine Labor and Success Awards. In addition, the production titled "Nobody's Story", which he staged at Konya State Theater in the 2017-2018 season, was deemed worthy of the Best Director award at the 43rd ฤฐsmet Kรผntay Theater Awards.
Other notable accolades include โTable Gameโ at the 19th Direklerini Audience Awards and โBest Actorโ at the 25th Tรผrkan Kahramankaptan Awards.
Korunan, who is also active in the field of education, worked on acting, direction, stage combat, puppet-shadow and voice-breathing techniques in international workshops such as Pierre De Bounce, Roberto Ciulli, Erica Bilder, Catherine Shaw, Terry Yang and Teheodoros Terzopoulos. He served as the assistant director of the Istanbul State Theater in 1993, 1999 and 2005.
He taught diction-phonetics at Dialog Speech and Acting Training Center in 2000, body language and performing arts at Istanbul Commerce University in 2003-2004, body language at Maltepe University in 2007, and creativity and acting in cooperation with Istanbul Aydฤฑn University BฤฐLMER in 2012. Since 2005, he has worked as a lecturer at Istanbul Kรผltรผr University, Department of Art Management.
Korunan, who published his poems in various literary magazines and wrote columns for newspapers, founded the performing arts company "Korunan Sahneyi" in 2025. He still appears on stage as an actor at the Istanbul State Theatre; At the same time, he continues to work actively in teaching and voice-over projects.
