Önder Açıkbaş

Önder Açıkbaş is an accomplished Turkish actor, theatre instructor and director, born in Germany in 1978. His artistic life began after he returned to Turkey with his family at the age of 6. A graduate of the Theatre Department of Akademi İstanbul, Açıkbaş took the first steps of his career in 1998.

Açıkbaş first stepped onto the stage with "Bir Demet Tiyatro", and later took part in film projects by BKM and BKM Mutfak. Having appeared in many films and television series, he also began a career in television presenting in 2009 with the programme "Güzel Haberler" on NTV. After this programme, which he co-hosted with Müjde Ar, he presented the talk show "Önder Harikalar Diyarında" on Kanaltürk in 2011.

That same year he directed the music videos for singer Betül Demir’s songs "Ya Ya" and "Mıknatıs". In 2012–2013 he appeared in the series "Harem" on FOX, and then hosted a programme called "ÖTV" on TV8. In 2018 he returned to audiences by hosting "ÖTV" again on TV8.

Açıkbaş’s acting career includes many successful projects. He first appeared on screen in 1998 in the series "İkinci Bahar", then went on to roles in series such as "Tatlı Hayat", "Yarım Elma", "Gelin" and "Bir İstanbul Masalı". He began his film career in 2005 with "Organize İşler" and went on to appear in films such as "Alayına İsyan", "Türkler Çıldırmış Olmalı" and "Bu Film Bitmez".

Also delivering strong performances in television series, Açıkbaş won audiences over in series such as "Leyla ile Mecnun", "Harem", "Babam Sınıfta Kaldı" and "Sil Baştan". He has also appeared in films such as "Mazlum Kuzey", "Sus (Hush)" and "Kaç Kaçabilirsen".

Önder Açıkbaş was born on 2 October 1978 in Germany, the child of a working-class family. He has 3 older brothers. He grew up in Germany until the age of 6. After finishing Hayrullah Kefoğlu High School in Bostancı, he graduated from the Theatre Department of Akademi İstanbul. His theatre life, which began with Bir Demet Tiyatro, carried over into the film projects of BKM and BKM Mutfak, and he appeared in many films and television series.

Önder Açıkbaş began his acting career in 1998 in the series “İkinci Bahar”, which starred famous actors such as Türkan Şoray and Şener Şen.
