Werder are 4-time Bundesliga champions, 6-time DFB-Pokal, 1-time DFL-Ligapokal, 3-time DFL-Super Cup and 1-time European Cup Winners' Cup winner. The team's first major trophy was the 1960โ61 DFB-Pokal; They last won the cup in 2008-09. Bremen's first German title came in 1964-65, and their last in 2003-04, a season in which they won the double championship.
In European football, Werder won the 1991โ92 European Cup Winners' Cup and were finalists in the 2008โ09 UEFA Cup.
Bremen has been playing at the Weserstadion since 1909. The club shares a rivalry known as Nordderby (Northern derby) with fellow Northern German club Hamburger SV. In April 2022, Werder had over 40,000 members.

Werder Bremen has participated many times in European football competitions organized by UEFA. The team won the 1991-92 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, came second in the 1992 UEFA Super Cup and lost in the final of the 2008-09 UEFA Cup. Werder were also joint winners of the 1998 UEFA Intertoto Cup.
