When can I retire? How to work out your retirement date with SGK in Turkey (4A, 4B, 4C)

Find out when you can retire as an SSK employee, a Bag-Kur self-employed worker or a civil servant, using the "Normal Şartlarda Ne Zaman Emekli Olabilirim?" service on e-Devlet and SGK's 4A, 4B and 4C calculators. Which details to take from your service record, the fields on each form, how to read the result and where to apply for retirement, step by step.

When can I retire? How to work out your retirement date with SGK in Turkey (4A, 4B, 4C)

Your retirement date depends on your date of birth, the day your insurance began, your number of premium days and which insurance branch you worked under (4A SSK, 4B Bag-Kur, 4C civil servant). Instead of relying on hearsay, you can enter these details into the Social Security Institution's (SGK) own tools and see the likely date for your own situation.

In this guide we first show how to gather the details you need from your service record, then how to fill in the calculation screens on e-Devlet and on SGK's e-SGK portal. As SGK itself warns, these calculations are for information only and cannot be used in official procedures; for retirement, the Institution's records are what count.

🧰 What you need

  • An e-Devlet login with your e-Devlet password, mobile signature, e-signature, chip-enabled Turkish ID card or internet banking
  • Your SGK registration and service record (taken from e-Devlet with a barcode)
  • Your date of birth, the date your insurance began (first job) and your total premium days
  • If any, details of military service buy-back, work abroad or days under other insurance branches

Steps

  1. Work out which insurance branch you are in SGK splits insured people into three branches: <strong>4A</strong> for people working under an employment contract, formerly called SSK; <strong>4B</strong> for people working independently on their own account, known as Bag-Kur; and <strong>4C</strong> for public servants, the former Emekli Sandığı (Retirement Fund) scope. The calculation screens are separate for each branch, so know yours first. If you have worked under more than one branch, your service record shows each one separately.
  2. Get your service record and note the details you need Log in to e-Devlet at turkiye.gov.tr, type <strong>hizmet dökümü</strong> into the search box and open the <strong>SGK Tescil ve Hizmet Dökümü</strong> (SGK registration and service record) service. From the record, write down your first insurance (job start) date, your total premium payment days and, if any, the days spent under other branches. The calculation screens ask you to enter these yourself; the more accurate your input, the closer the result is to reality.
  3. Open the "When Can I Retire" service on e-Devlet On e-Devlet, type <strong>emekli</strong> into the search box and choose the Social Security Institution service <strong>Normal Şartlarda Ne Zaman Emekli Olabilirim?</strong> (When can I retire under normal conditions?); the direct address is turkiye.gov.tr/sgk-ne-zaman-emekli-olabilirim. The service requires identity verification; log in with your e-Devlet password, mobile signature, e-signature, Turkish ID card or internet banking. Fill in the requested details using your service record and read the result.
  4. Alternative: open the calculator on the e-SGK portal You can do the same calculation without logging in. Go to e.sgk.gov.tr and open the <strong>Vatandaş</strong> (Citizen) section. Pick the one that matches your branch: <strong>Ne Zaman Emekli Olabilirim (4A)</strong>, <strong>Ne Zaman Emekli Olabilirim (4B)</strong> or <strong>Ne Zaman Emekli Olabilirim (4C)</strong>. On the detail page, click the <strong>Uygulamaya Giriş İçin Tıklayınız</strong> (click to open the application) link; the calculation form opens.
  5. Fill in the 4A (SSK) form Select <strong>Cinsiyetiniz</strong> (gender), <strong>Doğum Tarihiniz</strong> (date of birth) and <strong>Hizmete Başlama Tarihiniz</strong> (service start date). If you have no disability or early ageing condition, leave <strong>Malüliyetiniz Var mı?</strong> and <strong>Erken Yaşlanma Var mı?</strong> as <strong>Hayır</strong> (No). In the current details section, enter <strong>SSK Prim Ödeme Gün Sayınız</strong> (SSK premium days); if they apply, also fill in the fields for days under other funds, military/artist days, actual service days and days abroad. Once the required details are in, press <strong>GÖNDER</strong> (Send).
  6. Fill in the 4B (Bag-Kur) form In the 4B calculator, first choose <strong>Tam</strong> (full) or <strong>Kısmi</strong> (partial) as the <strong>Emeklilik Türü</strong> (retirement type), then enter <strong>Cinsiyet</strong> (gender) and <strong>Doğum Tarihi</strong> (date of birth). The <strong>Özel Durum Bilgileriniz Varsa Giriniz</strong> (special circumstances) section asks about disability, early ageing, a disabled child in need of care or buying back time abroad; if none applies to you, leave them as <strong>Hayır</strong> (No). Complete the form and run the calculation.
  7. Add your 4C (civil servant) service periods one by one The 4C calculator opens under the name <strong>4C Emeklilik Hizmet Süresi ve Yaş Hesabı</strong> (4C service length and age calculation). Enter your <strong>Doğum Tarihi</strong> (date of birth) and select your <strong>Cinsiyet</strong> (gender). For each period of duty, enter the <strong>Başlangıç Tarihi</strong> (start date) and <strong>Bitiş Tarihi</strong> (end date), pick the right type from the <strong>Hizmet Tür</strong> (service type) list (4C service, 4B service, 4C bought-back service or other services) and press <strong>Ekle</strong> (Add). If you left the job and started again, add each period as a separate row; according to SGK's note, only one of any overlapping periods is counted.
  8. Read the result and compare it with your records Based on what you entered, the screen shows the age and premium days needed for retirement and when you would complete them. As SGK clearly states on its application pages, the calculation relies only on the data you enter, is for information only and cannot be used in official procedures. If the result is very different from what you expected, first check the dates and day counts you entered against your service record again.
  9. If your records are missing something or wrong, contact SGK If your service record leaves out a period you worked, shows a wrong job start date or is missing days, get it corrected before retirement time comes, because the Institution's records are what retirement is based on. Apply to your SGK provincial directorate or social security centre, explain the situation and bring the documents you have. You can also ask SGK about procedures such as buying back military service or time abroad.
  10. When the time comes, apply for retirement on e-Devlet Once you meet the age and premium conditions, you can submit your retirement (old-age pension) request through the Social Security Institution service <strong>Gelir, Aylık, Ödenek Talep Belgesinin Verilmesi</strong> (income, pension and allowance request) on e-Devlet. Find it by typing <strong>gelir aylık</strong> into the search box; follow the on-screen steps to choose the request type and your insurance branch, then fill in your contact and bank details. SGK assesses the application; the date on the calculation screen does not by itself mean you are entitled.
