Attila Atasoy

Attila Atasoy was born on December 10, 1953 in Muğla. He spent his childhood in Marmaris and Antalya, and his early youth in Ankara. After completing the School of Pharmacy, he started performing with music; He was known as a composer, lyricist and performer.

He received music lessons with mandolin at the age of five. After finishing first in the Voice and Acting Competition in primary school, he attracted attention by playing the leading role in the musical "Shepherd". During her education, she actively took part in fields such as theatre, musicals, Turkish Art Music, Turkish Folk Music, folk dances, ballet and modern dance.

While he was trying various instruments, he preferred the guitar and continued his compositions on this instrument.

Atasoy, who first appeared on television in 1971 with Hıncal Uluç's "Bil Bul" competition program, was introduced as a composer-singer in the music-entertainment program produced by Yavuz Gökmen in 1972. In group and solo programs broadcast on Ankara Radio and Television, he exhibited Folk Music modernizations and Turkish Classical Music orchestration experiments along with his own compositions.

He worked with names such as Selim Atakan, Pepe Cursi, Şerif Kaptanoğlu, Mehmet Erenler, Erol Sayan, MelahatPars and HasanCihatÖrter.

Atasoy, who released his first record called "Anam / Cüce" in 1974, reached a wide audience by reaching second place with the song "Dilenci" in the 1975 Eurovision Turkey qualifiers and won Hey Magazine's Promising Singer award. Then, he participated in the Eurovision Türkiye auditions in 1979 with Ayşe Mine and Dağhan Baydur; However, he could not make it to the finals and released an EP called "Hopşirinini".

In 1982, he represented Turkey at the Golden Orfe Music Festival in Bulgaria, receiving two special awards with his works "Fırtına" and "Like Bird". He won third place in the Golden Pigeon Competition with his composition "Suppose I Never Knowed You" in 1987 and "Summer Rain" sung by Erdal Çelik in 1989. He had a short marriage between 1994 and 1999 with his daughter Ada, who was born in 1995.

Since 2011, he has left his profession as a pharmacist and continues his music and stage projects from time to time; In May 2016, he published his first book consisting of travel writings called "Pursue the Dream".
