Born in Ankara on 25 May 1984, Mehmet Cihan Ercan began his artistic life during his university years. After graduating in 2006 from the Acting Programme of the Theatre Department at Ankara University’s Faculty of Language and History–Geography, he worked on various projects both on stage and in voice acting.
Ercan drew the attention of a wide audience with the character Hidayet in the series “Leyla ile Mecnun”, broadcast from Istanbul, and continued this success with roles in series such as “Ben de Özledim”, “No 309” and “Erkenci Kuş”. On screen, he appeared in productions such as “Ah Şu Çocuklar” in 2006, “Suç Dosyası” and “Bitmeyen Makara” in 2007, “Komşu Köyün Delisi” in 2009, “Bir Ömür Yetmez” in 2011, “Leyla ile Mecnun” (Hidayet) in 2012, “Erkek Tarafı – Testosteron” (Seçkin) and “Ben de Özledim” (Cihan) in 2013, “Deliha” (Cemal) and “Bana Masal Anlatma” (Kubilay) in 2014, “Kara Bela” (Efkan) in 2015, and “Kaçma Birader” (Halil) and “Çetin Ceviz” (Ahmet) in 2016.
He appeared in “Salur Kazan: Zoraki Kahraman” (Executioner) in 2017, the films “Erkenci Kuş” (Muzaffer Kaya/Zebercet) and “Arapsaçı” (Yusuf) in 2018, the projects “Aşk Çağırırsan Gelir” (Buğra) and “Senden Daha Güzel” (Yaşar) in 2022, and the film “Bir İhtimal Daha Var” (Erkut) in 2025.
Alongside his screen acting, Ercan has also been an active contributor to the stage: in 2006 he performed in the plays “Belgelerle Kurtuluş Savaşı”, “Çıkışyok Land Cumhuriyeti”, “Akıllı Daha Akıllı Daha Daha Akıllı”, “Keşanlı Ali Destanı (Meddah Gösterisi)” and “Sersem Kocanın Kurnaz Karısı”.
In 2007 he took an important step in his theatre career by appearing in the play “Bir Karşılaşma Bir Nedir?”. Today he continues to work actively in theatre, film and television projects.
