Edwige Fenech was born on December 24, 1948 in Annabe, Algeria, and is known as one of the unforgettable actors of Italian cinema. Fenech, whose mother is from the town of Acate in Sicily and whose father is Maltese, spent his childhood in Algeria and then moved to Nice, France, with his mother after his parents separated. Here, she continued her high school education and received training in dance and medicine.
His encounter with the world of cinema was quite accidental. Drawing attention while walking on the street in Nice, Fenech attracted the attention of director Norbert Carbonnaux and took a small role in his film "Toutes folles de lui". After the competition, he went to Rome to step into Italian cinema.
Fenech, who appeared on the screens in Italy with his first film "Samoa, Queen of the Jungle", soon began to take part in the fashionable yellow film genre. His collaborations, especially with director Sergio Martino, have made him one of the icons of this genre. Fenech, who married film producer Luciano Martino in 1971, had a son named Edwin from this marriage. Edwin later served as CEO of Ferrari.
In the 1970s, Fenech starred in thrillers and horror films, as well as sex comedies. During this period, he took part in many different types of films, especially "All the colors of the darkness" and "Naked for the Killer". He also gave successful performances in films such as "La pretora" directed by Lucio Fulci in 1976.
During these years, he also received the title of honorary citizenship from the town of Acate in Sicily, due to his contributions to cinema.
