Ferdi Atuner

Ferdi Atuner was born on March 14, 1944 in Beyoğlu district of Istanbul. He lost his father when he was only 14 years old. Atuner, who was introduced to art at a young age, completed his education at the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory, Singing Department. During this period, he took on roles on the stage of the National Turkish Student Union with names such as Zeki Alasya.

Atuner, who turned to the field of opera with the encouragement of Nedim Otyam, the director of the polyphonic choir of the National Turkish Student Union, joined the staff of the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet after a while. He also appeared on stage at the Gülriz Sururi-Engin Cezzar Theatre. He took part in the first cast of the famous television program Olacak O Kadar, together with a team including Levent Kırca. In some productions, his name was mistakenly mentioned as Ferdi Altuner.

During his many years of artistic life, he took on various roles in both television series and movies. He officially retired from opera in 2009. The artist, who had health problems in the last years of his life, passed away as a result of a heart attack on April 22, 2026. After his wife Asime Atuner, who passed away just a month before him, he was buried in Topkapı Cemetery after the funeral prayer performed at Zincirlikuyu Mosque on Thursday, April 23, 2026, following the noon prayer.
