Mehmet Sait Ergenç was born in 1931 in the Fatih district of Istanbul. He started working in his family's shoemaking business since his youth. Known for his interest in music, Ergenç gave compositions and lyrics to legendary names such as Müslüm Gürses and Ferdi Tayfur. When he stepped into the theatre, he met the master director Muhsin Ertuğrul, and this encounter was a turning point that shaped his artistic life.
Later, he performed at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality City Theaters for many years. He also worked as a voice actor in more than 80 movies. In addition to his work in music and theater, he also made a name for himself by establishing his own record company named "Ergenç Yapım Plak".
Sait Ergenç, who was married five times in his private life, had six children from these marriages. The names of their children were Emine Nevin, Ayşe Nesrin, Halit, Azade, Ahmet Sait and Mehmet Sait. The artist passed away after struggling for ten days in intensive care following a brain hemorrhage in February 2008.
