Sibel Gürsoy

Born in the town of Ratzgrad in the Deliorman region of Bulgaria, Sibel Gürsoy grew up with her family working in the healthcare sector. Gürsoy, who started his music education at a young age and participated in choir activities, immigrated to Türkiye with his family in 1989 when he was 11 years old. The artist, who took the surname Gürsoy when they came to Türkiye, continued his life first in Izmit and then in Istanbul. He completed his education at Sakıp Sabancı High School in Beşiktaş, Istanbul.

Sibel Gürsoy, who stepped into the world of music when she was only 16, started working in the field of commercial and film music. In addition to films such as "Ağır Roman" and "Gemide", which are popular productions of Turkish cinema, Warner Bros. and took part in the Turkish dubbing of Walt Disney animated films.

Gürsoy, who voiced catchy advertising jingles for brands such as Coca Cola and Dalin, took an active part in the music group "Pasaporto Latino" for three years during this period. In 1998, he came together with the master musician Fahir Atakoğlu in joint stage and album projects, and these works were later presented to the audience as an album.

Sibel Gürsoy, who continues her education at Bilgi University Music Department, released her first solo album "Gündüz Gece" in 1999, during her university years. In addition to this album, for which Erdal Kızılçay was the musical director, she sang the song "Seni Seviyorum" in Cengiz Baysal's "Candy & Milkshake" and Melih Kibar's "Yadigar" albums.

Gürsoy, who married musician İlker Özalp in 2001, performed with Cengiz Baysal at the 9th Istanbul Jazz Festival in 2002 and also contributed to Baysal's album "On the Stars". The following year, she appeared before the audience at the 10th International Istanbul Jazz Festival with her husband İlker Özalp with the project "Kaval Sviri", consisting of jazz interpretations of Bulgarian folk melodies.

Sibel Gürsoy, who included works dedicated to Nükhet Ruacan and Ajlan Büyükburç in her album "Yol", recorded in 2007 and released to the audience in 2012, was accompanied by important musicians such as Selen Gülün, Serkan Özyılmaz, Yahya Dai, Şenova Ülker, Cengiz Baysal and İlker Özalp in this project. The lyrics of the song "Tuzak" in the album were written by Pınar Uçarlar.

Gürsoy founded the music group "Skeç" with Kutlu Özmakinacı in 2013 and released their album "Okyanus" in the same year.
