Steve Harvey, full name Broderick Stephen Harvey, is an American comedian, television host, radio host and author, born on January 17, 1957, in Welch, West Virginia. He is widely known for the show Family Feud, which he has hosted since 2010.
He spent his childhood in Cleveland, Ohio. Before appearing on the stage, he worked in different jobs such as boxer, automobile factory worker, insurance, carpet washing and postman. He performed stand-up for the first time at an open mic night in Cleveland in 1985, and soon quit his job and focused entirely on comedy. The first years were difficult financially.
Comedy and television
He won a national comedy competition in 1990, leading him to host Showtime at the Apollo. He then starred in the self-titled sitcom The Steve Harvey Show, broadcast on The WB channel. In 1997, he participated in the Kings of Comedy tour with Cedric the Entertainer, D. L. Hughley and Bernie Mac; The tour was made into a movie in 2000 under the title The Original Kings of Comedy. He ended his stand-up career with a show in Las Vegas on August 2, 2012.
He took over as host of Family Feud in September 2010, becoming the show's longest-serving host. He won multiple Daytime Emmy Awards for his daytime talk show, which began in 2012. He has also hosted the morning radio program The Steve Harvey Morning Show for many years.
As an author, he is best known for his book Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man, published in 2009; This bestselling book he wrote about relationships was also adapted into a movie called Think Like a Man. In 2013, he was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
