Zehra Yıldız (1956 – December 1997), Turkish soprano. He was one of the leading artists of the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet; She became known for her dramatic soprano roles in Türkiye and Germany.
He studied voice at Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory. In the early 1980s, he joined the soloist staff of the Istanbul State Opera and appeared on stage with Johann Strauss's operetta A Night in Venice. In the following years, she sang leading roles in works such as Aida, Tosca, Madama Butterfly, Otello and Salome.
Work abroad and awards
In the 1980s, she won international singing competitions in Italy. He performed regularly in Germany in the 1990s; Her interpretation of Senta in Wagner's opera The Flying Dutchman led Opernwelt magazine to list her among the most successful artists of the 1995–1996 season. The Ministry of Culture also awarded her as the most successful female opera singer of the year.
He died in Heidelberg in December 1997 as a result of a brain hemorrhage following a performance at the Heidelberg Opera. Zehra Yıldız Culture and Art Foundation, established in her memory, supports young singers and organizes memorial concerts every December.
