Güzin Özipek was born on March 11, 1925 in Istanbul and passed away in the same city on August 12, 2000. Özipek, one of the important names of Turkish artistic life, has given unforgettable performances both on the opera and theater stage and on the cinema screens.
He took his first step into his artistic life in 1944 by appearing on the Izmir tour of the operetta Hava Cıva, written by brothers Cemal Reşit Rey and Ekrem Reşit Rey. After graduating from the secondary school department of the commerce high school, Özipek took the stage in the Ses Operetta in Beyoğlu, and in one year she appeared in Yolculuk Var, Tatlı Sert, Zırdeliler, Yaman Şey, She took part in various operettas such as Platin Palas and The Clerk's Wife.
The artist, who also worked in the Muammer Karaca theater during this period, made the transition to cinema with the movie İstanbul Yıldızları in 1952.
Özipek, who continued to work at Muammer Karaca Theater until 1956, had to take a break from her artistic life between 1953 and 1965 due to her marriage. The fact that her husband Aydın Tezel was also involved in art enabled her to return to the stage in 1965 with the musical Keşanlı Ali Destanı at the Gülriz Sururi-Engin Cezzar Theatre.
The artist, who later started working at Gen-Ar Theatre, also worked with Haldun Dormen since 1971. He worked with his wife Aydın Tezel on seven films and many photo novels between 1969 and 1974; During their marriage, which lasted nearly fifty years, they contributed to different branches of art together.
Güzin Özipek, who recently won the hearts of the audience with her character "Grandma Leyla Hanım" in the TV series Bizimkiler, took part in dozens of theater plays, operettas, movies and TV series projects in her artistic life that lasted approximately 56 years. He passed away in August 2000 at Marmara University Hospital due to lymphoma. After the funeral prayer performed in Levent Mosque, he was buried in Zincirlikuyu Cemetery.
