Sahrap Soysal was born on November 10, 1959 in Gรผmรผลhane and stands out as one of the well-known names of Turkish culinary culture. Soysal, who started his career by working as a manager in different sectors for more than ten years, graduated from Middle East Technical University (METU) in 1983. He has reached large audiences by bringing his talent and knowledge in the field of cuisine to television screens.
Soysal, who is known for the "Mutfakta Joy" program he presented on Kanal D between 2000 and 2003, conveyed the subtleties of Turkish cuisine to the audience. His first book, "A Food Tale", was published in 2003 and he achieved great success internationally with this work. The book became a source of great pride when it was selected as the "World's Best Local Cookbook" at the Gourmand Awards held in Sweden in 2004.
Following this success, he continues to meet his readers with the "A Food Tale" column in the Hรผrriyet Kelebek supplement since 2004. He also wrote articles on food culture for the supplements of important newspapers such as Milliyet and Posta, and contributed to this field in various magazines.
Sahrap Soysal's books discuss the richness of Turkish cuisine from different aspects. With her cookbook for children ("Mom, I'm Hungry", 2005), she aimed to inculcate healthy eating habits at young ages. Later, he presented the joy and history of tables to his readers with his works such as "Darling, What Did You Cook for Dinner" (2006) and "Dervish Tables" (2007), which he prepared in memory of the year of Mevlana.
His books such as "Salads and Appetizers That Every Home Needs" (2011) and "Delightful Dishes in Tin Pots" (2012) bring together the practical and traditional flavors of Turkish cuisine. In particular, the book "Dervish Tables" was deemed worthy of the "Best Historical Cuisine" award at the 2008 Frankfurt Book Fair.
Soysal, who continued his television career with the "Delicious Kitchens" program on Kanal D, later took part in Melek Baykal's program on Star TV and appeared on the screens with the program "Sahrap'la Ramazan Sofrasฤฑ" during Ramadan. He last presented the program "Ramadan Sofrasฤฑ with Sahrap Soysal" on FOX screens during Ramadan in 2023. Sahrap Soysal is married to Doctor Nuri Soysal and is the mother of three children.
