Victor Garber is an actor and singer born on March 16, 1949, in London, Ontario, Canada. In addition to his long career on the Broadway stage, he is known for his roles as Thomas Andrews in Titanic and Jack Bristow in Alias.
Music and stage
He started acting at the age of nine. He was among the members of the folk music group The Sugar Shoppe, founded in 1967. He played Jesus in the musical Godspell, staged in Toronto in 1972, and took on the same role in the film adaptation in 1973. He was in the first cast of productions such as Sweeney Todd, Noises Off and Arcadia in New York.
He was nominated for a four-time Tony Award for his performances in Deathtrap, Little Me, Lend Me a Tenor, and Damn Yankees.
Cinema and television
In the cinema, he starred in films such as Sleepless in Seattle, Titanic, Legally Blonde and Argo; He played Canadian ambassador Ken Taylor in Argo and won an Actors Guild Award with the cast. He received three consecutive Emmy nominations for his role as Jack Bristow in Alias, which aired between 2001 and 2006. Between 2015 and 2017, he played the character of Martin Stein in the TV series The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow.
He was awarded the Officer rank of the Order of Canada in 2022.
