How do you get a criminal record certificate from e-Devlet?

A criminal record certificate (commonly known as a police record) is asked for in job applications, tenders, licenses and many other official procedures. There's no need to go to the courthouse: the Ministry of Justice issues this document through e-Devlet, and the document is free.

The document carries a barcode number. The institution you give it to can use your Turkish ID number and this barcode to view the original document in the system and verify it — so printing it out and handing it over is enough, and no wet signature is required.

🧰 What you need

  • An e-Devlet password (or an e-signature/mobile signature)
  • A phone or computer connected to the internet
  • A printer (if the institution wants a printout)

Steps

  1. Log in to e-Devlet Go to turkiye.gov.tr and log in using your Turkish ID number and your e-Devlet password. If you don't have a password, you can get one from the nearest PTT branch with your identity card. 💡 You can also log in with a mobile signature, an e-signature or internet banking.
  2. Search for the service Type “criminal record” into the search box at the top and select the “Criminal Record Inquiry” service.
  3. Choose what the document will be used for You're shown a choice asking where you'll use the document (an official institution, a job application or a tender, for example). Choosing correctly matters: for some purposes, archive records are added to the document as well.
  4. Run the query and generate the document Your details appear on the screen. Once you click “Query”, the document is generated as a PDF; the barcode number is printed on the document.
  5. Download it, keep it, share it Download the PDF to your phone. You can send it to the institution digitally or hand in a printout. 💡 When sending the document by email, send the PDF as it is; a screenshot may not be accepted for barcode verification.
  6. Remind them about institutional verification If the institution you submit the document to has doubts, you can tell them that they can view the original document with your Turkish ID number and the barcode on the document verification page at turkiye.gov.tr.
