Radio Yudum — better known as YudumFM — is Yudum.NET’s own internet radio station. It plays Turkish music, broadcasts non-stop, and you don’t need to install anything to listen.

What is Radio Yudum?

YudumFM is the radio station of the Yudum.NET chat community, which has been going since 1998. It isn’t a commercial station: there are no ad breaks, no membership is required and listening is free. It runs under the same roof as the chat rooms — which is why the radio and the chat aren’t two separate things.

It also goes by “Yudum Radio” and “Radio Yudum” (in Turkish, “Yudum Radyo” and “Radyo Yudum”); all three names refer to the same station.

What does it play?

The station plays mostly Turkish music: pop, arabesque, türkü (folk songs), ballads and, now and then, international tracks. The playlists change throughout the day, and in the evenings live DJ shows take over.

The title and artist of whatever is playing appear in real time on both the radio page and in the chat rooms.

How do you listen?

• In your browser: Open the YudumFM page and press play. There’s no app to install.
• On your phone: The same page works on mobile too, and the stream keeps playing even when your screen switches off.
• While you chat: The radio widget in the chat rooms lets you listen without leaving the conversation.

Song requests

Listeners can request songs. You can send a request from the search box on the radio page, or by writing to RadyoBot in the chat; it’s added to the queue and played when a suitable slot comes up.

DJ shows

At certain times of day, a live DJ show replaces the automatic playlist. When a DJ takes the mic, it’s announced on the radio page and in the chat, and while they’re on air, listeners can message the DJ through the chat.

Why “yudum”?

The radio and the site both take their name from the same word. Yudum is the amount you drink in one go — a sip: brief, but it does you good. The radio works the same way: you switch it on at some point in the day, it stays in the background and does its job.
