Voice and Video Chat

This English text is provided for information only; the binding version is the Turkish one: Turkish original

Yudum has voice and video chat built into the site. Nothing to install โ€” it runs in your browser.

1. Voice chat in a room

A shared voice chat where everyone in the room can talk. It is open in #lobby, our international room.

  1. Join the room. If voice chat is open you will see a ๐Ÿ”Š mark next to the room name, with the number of people talking.
  2. Click it, or the ๐Ÿ”Š button at the top. On a phone the top bar is narrow, so it sits under Menu โ†’ Voice room.
  3. Allow microphone access when your browser asks. The room panel opens.
  4. Use ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ to mute or unmute, ๐Ÿ“ท to turn your camera on. Camera is optional.
  5. Press ๐Ÿ“ต Leave to exit.

Taking turns: in busy rooms newcomers start as listeners. Raise your hand with ๐Ÿ–๏ธ and room moderators will give you the floor. In quiet rooms you can just talk.

Room moderators can mute someone, turn off their camera or remove them from the voice chat. Up to 15 people can talk at once.

The voice bar in the community layout

While you are in a voice room a voice bar appears at the bottom left: ๐ŸŽ™ toggles your microphone, ๐Ÿ–ฅ shares your screen, โป leaves the room. Switching to another room does not drop your voice connection โ€” you can read other rooms while you talk. The room list shows who is talking under a room with voice chat open, and the member list marks people "In a voice call".

Sharing your screen or a game in the room

In approved rooms you can show your screen or a game to the room while everyone keeps talking. Details: Screen and game sharing.

2. One-to-one calls

  1. Right-click someone's name (press and hold on a phone).
  2. Choose ๐Ÿ“ž Voice call or ๐ŸŽฅ Video call. These appear only for people who are online.
  3. They accept or decline. During the call you can mute, switch the camera off, or use ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Hide IP to keep your connection private.

You need a registered nick to make calls. If someone blocked you, or set calls to friends only, the call will not go through.

3. Live streaming

One person broadcasts, many people watch and type in the chat. To stream you need to apply for a broadcaster badge. To watch, see the broadcasters page.

Common questions

Who can join the voice room? Only members can join the chat, and the voice room is open to them. Membership is free and takes a few seconds; you can also sign in with Google.

Do I have to turn my camera on? No. Voice and video are the same room; some people show their camera, some don't.

Nobody can hear me. Check the microphone permission in your browser. Closing the tab on a phone drops the connection. Headphones prevent echo.

The video stays black. Refresh the page and rejoin the room. If it keeps happening, let us know.
