Nickname Registration

Why register a nickname?

A registered nickname belongs to you. Nobody else can use it, your profile and badges are attached to it, and you can hold privileges in rooms. Registration is free.

Registering

Only members can join the chat, so registering your nickname and signing up are the same step. Use the sign-up form on the site or the Sign up window in the webchat — it takes a few seconds, and you can also use Google. Typing /ns REGISTER in the chat points you to the same form.

Your password must be at least 8 and at most 32 characters, may not contain spaces, and may not be one of the obvious ones such as 12345678 or password. Common passwords are refused for your own protection.

The e-mail address matters: it is the only way to recover a forgotten password, and if account activation is switched on your account stays inactive until you click the link we send there.

Identifying

When you sign in to the webchat with your account, you are identified automatically. If you ever need to do it by hand:

/ns IDENTIFY <password>

For a different nickname: /ns IDENTIFY deniz Kestane8Yaprak

Password and e-mail

  • Change your password: /ns SETPASS <old password> <new password>
  • Add or change your e-mail: Settings › Account (current password + confirmation link to the new address). /ns SET EMAIL is no longer used.
  • Forgotten it? Use the password reset page.

⚠ There is no SET PASSWORD command — the command is SETPASS and it asks for the old password as well.

Someone else is using your nickname

  • /ns GHOST <nick> <password> — disconnects an old session of yours that is still attached.
  • /ns RECOVER <nick> <password> — disconnects someone else who is using it.

Profile fields

What appears on your profile is edited with /uprop:

/uprop bio Hello, I am Deniz
/uprop location Istanbul
/uprop takim Fenerbahce
/uprop website https://example.com

To see them all, /uprop *; to look at someone else's, /ns PROP deniz.

Available fields: realname, website, avatar, age, location, takim, bio, status, color, language, discord, telegram, instagram, twitter, github.

The same information can be edited from the settings page and from the profile window in WebChat.

Other settings

  • /ns SET AJOIN on — join your groups automatically when you sign in.
  • /ns SET SHOWEMAIL off — keep your e-mail off your public profile.
  • /ns SET LANGUAGE en — the language of service messages.

Deleting the registration

Easiest: Settings › Account › Delete account (confirm with your nick and password). With a chat command:

/ns DROP <your password>

⚠ This cannot be undone; with a wrong password nothing is deleted. Rooms you own are left without an owner.
