Screen and Game Sharing in Voice Rooms

What is it for?

While in a voice room you can show your screen or a game window to everyone in the room, and everybody keeps talking while they watch. Use it to play together, show something, or look at a page together — like screen sharing on Discord, straight from the browser.

Which channels have it?

Screen sharing uses server bandwidth, so it is available in channels approved by the admins. In an approved channel the channel founder can turn it off and on:

How do I start sharing?

1. Join the channel's voice room.
2. Press 🖥 Share your screen. The button is at the top of the room panel; in the community layout it is also on the voice bar at the bottom left.
3. The browser asks what to share: the whole screen, a window or a tab. For a game, choose the game's window.
4. Sharing starts. To stop, press ⏹ Stop sharing or the browser's own "Stop sharing" button.

How do I watch?

When someone starts sharing, a Screen shares list appears in the room panel. Press Watch this share and the picture opens in the room; Stop watching closes it. Several people can share at once — you choose which one to watch.

Can I talk while watching?

Yes. Voice keeps flowing through the room as before and the picture comes on a separate path, so they do not interfere. Your voice connection also stays up when you switch to another channel to read the chat.

Good to know

• You need a desktop browser. Phone browsers do not allow screen sharing, so the button does not appear on phones — but you can watch from a phone.
• Your computer's sound is not shared; people in the room hear you through your microphone (sending the same sound twice would echo).
• The picture goes up to 30 frames per second and lowers its quality on slow connections.
• Shares are not recorded and no outside link or address is created; only people in that room can watch.
• "Screen sharing is off in this channel" means the channel is not approved or the founder turned it off.
